Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Policy.

Public Art Works is committed to promoting equality, celebrating diversity, and fostering inclusion in all aspects of our work. We believe that creativity is strengthened by a wide range of perspectives, experiences, and voices, and we strive to create environments where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

This policy applies to our internal practices, collaborations, design processes, and the delivery of all projects.

1. Our Commitment

Public Art Works will:

  • Promote equal opportunities and fair treatment for all

  • Actively challenge discrimination, harassment, and exclusion

  • Create welcoming, safe, and inclusive environments

  • Comply with the Equality Act 2010 and all relevant legislation

We do not tolerate discrimination on the basis of age, disability, gender identity, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic.

2. EDI in Our Organisation and Processes

We aim to embed EDI across our internal working practices by:

  • Using fair and transparent recruitment and selection processes

  • Providing equal access to opportunities, training, and professional development

  • Encouraging flexible and supportive working where possible

  • Working with freelancers, suppliers, and partners who share our commitment to equality and inclusion

  • Creating a culture of openness, respect, and collaboration

3. EDI in Design and Creative Development

We ensure EDI is central to how we conceive and develop projects by:

  • Engaging with diverse communities to understand different needs, experiences, and perspectives

  • Using inclusive consultation and co-design methods

  • Considering access, visibility, and representation from the earliest stages of design

  • Creating work that avoids stereotypes and promotes positive, respectful representation

  • Designing projects that are physically, socially, and culturally accessible wherever possible

4. EDI in Project Delivery

We embed EDI into delivery by:

  • Selecting accessible sites and considering physical, sensory, and cognitive access

  • Using clear, inclusive communication and interpretation

  • Providing multiple ways for people to engage (in-person, digital, participatory)

  • Working with diverse artists, makers, and specialists

  • Monitoring and reflecting on who we reach and how projects are experienced

5. Responsibility and Monitoring

All members of Public Art Works share responsibility for implementing this policy. We will review and update this policy regularly to ensure it remains effective and relevant.

6. Reporting Concerns

Any concerns relating to discrimination, harassment, or exclusion in connection with our work should be raised with Public Art Works. All concerns will be taken seriously and addressed promptly and fairly.
