What we do.
We deliver public art projects from early strategy and concept development through to fabrication and installation, working closely with others and carefully managing timescales and budgets. Our approach ensures each project is thoughtful, practical, and responsive to the place, supporting communities, developers, local authorities, cultural and public sector organisations.
A collaborative process.
-
We begin our design process by engaging closely with clients and communities to understand their needs, aspirations, and the context of each project. This initial engagement aligns with RIBA Stage 0 and Stage 1, where we gather insights, define objectives, and identify opportunities and constraints. From there, we develop initial concepts, RIBA Stage 2, exploring creative ideas, materials, and approaches that respond to the site, users, and wider community. This collaborative and research-led approach ensures that each project is grounded in context, informed by stakeholder input, and sets a clear framework for detailed design and delivery.
-
Concepts are then refined through a process of design development, testing, and public consultation, corresponding to RIBA Stage 3. During this stage, we explore materials, functionality, and spatial relationships in greater detail, while actively seeking feedback from stakeholders and the public to ensure the proposals are meaningful, accessible, and well-suited to their context. This iterative process allows us to balance creative ambition with practical considerations, ensuring the final design resonates with both place and people.
-
We produce detailed designs that fully address all technical, practical, and statutory requirements at RIBA Stage 4. This includes specifications, engineering integration, material selection, and compliance with planning, health and safety, and building regulations. By resolving these details before construction, we ensure that the project can be delivered efficiently, safely, and to the highest standard, while staying true to the original design intent.
-
Finally, we manage fabrication and installation, bringing the project to life with care, quality, and impact, corresponding to RIBA Stage 5. This stage involves coordinating contractors, overseeing site work, and ensuring the design is realised as intended, while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship, safety, and environmental sensitivity. Following completion, we oversee handover and reflect on the project’s outcomes to ensure it meets its intended goals and impact.
